Now and again a ghostly apparition floats into view in Holland’s verdant polder landscape — that of the Japanese singer Yuka Kawabe, in a spotless white dress. Against a background of wind, water and birdsong we hear snatches of traditional songs, softly sung by Kawabe. This installation and Watanabes’s other installation The Third House Owner (commisioned by Huis Marseille, on the history of the museum), will come to life during this finnisage.
On Sunday, September 2, Japanese singer Yuka Kawabe will perform during the finissage of Chikako Watanabe’s exhibition. Yuka Kawabe sings songs which she collects in different countries and places. Her repertoire includes music from Japan, Tibet, the Mediterranean, Ireland, the Netherlands and other parts of the world.
In addition, Chikako Watanabe will talk about her two installations that are now on view in Huis Marseille. This event will be in English. Afterwards, there is time to speak with the artist and Tibetan chai will be served.
This event is free (excl. museum entrance).
Free entrance for We Are Public and Museumkaart.
